🗳️ Go Vote
If you've had your fill of campaign commercials, unsolicited texts and enough yard signs to start a small political convention, good news: Election Day is here.

We don't cover politics, but we do believe knowing what's happening on your ballot is part of being an informed Wacoan. There's quite a bit to sort through this year, so here's the short version:

McLennan County voters will weigh in on races ranging from U.S. Senate and Congress to governor, state leadership, local judges and county commissioners.

One thing worth knowing before you head to the polls: You'll see Texas Senate District 22 listed twice. That's not a printing error. Sen. Brian Birdwell stepped down, so one race fills the remainder of his current term (through January 11), while the other determines who serves the next full term.

A few things before you go:

  • Polls are open 7 AM to 7 PM.

  • You can vote at any McLennan County vote center, regardless of where you live in the county.

  • Bring an acceptable form of ID.

The ballot is a long one. Take a few minutes to review it before you arrive. Get ready to see a sea of "I Voted" stickers on your friends, neighbors and all over your social media feeds. Election Day's unofficial uniform is about to make its annual appearance.

🍼 A first for Waco families
On a completely different note, there's some good news for Waco families who have been waiting a long time for it. A baby girl and baby boy have arrived after IVF treatment at Deerwood Waco Fertility Clinic, making them the first babies conceived through IVF in Waco, according to KCEN.

Until now, patients seeking IVF have often had to make repeated trips to Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin or Houston for treatment. Having a lab right here in Waco means more of that journey can happen close to home, without adding hours on the road to an already emotional process.

Dr. Lacy Kessler hopes the births encourage other families facing infertility to explore their options. Learn more about Deerwood Waco.

💬 Community Corner: The Waco Buzz Parents edition got a 95% approval rating over the weekend. That's a pretty good sign we're onto something, so I'm adding it to the 2027 lineup!

One thing to know: this won't go to everyone who gets the regular Buzz. When it's ready, we'll let you know how to sign up if you'd like to receive it.

Want to help build it? I'm looking for people with ideas, connections, and local businesses interested in sponsoring the launch. If that's you, hit reply. I'd love to talk.

🍔 Union Hall Shake-Up
Armstrong's Bayou Cafe has left Union Hall after a three-year run. The owners are renovating their own brick-and-mortar location. In the meantime, the Armstrong's Bayou Express food truck is parked at The Feed Lot in Hewitt. Stop by Tuesday or Wednesday for free cheesecake with any basket or pasta order. I'm excited for them.

New at Union Hall since we last mentioned it: Willie Sue's Burger, Krazy Dogz and Turkey Leg Shack.

Baylor basketball is officially back. The Bears have already knocked off the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in exhibition games, and now the games count. With both teams opening their seasons at Foster Pavilion and Homecoming week underway, there's plenty of reason to get out and support the Bears.

🏀 Basketball: New season, fresh start. Both teams kicked off the regular season last night at Foster Pavilion. The women host Central Arkansas Thursday at 7 PM, then Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday at 2 PM, with postgame autographs. The men take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday at 4 PM, followed by Yale next Tuesday, Nov. 10.

🏈 Football: The Bears head into Homecoming with some momentum after taking down UCF last Friday. Iowa State comes to McLane Stadium Saturday for an 11 AM kickoff. A win would make for quite a Homecoming weekend. Tickets from $17.

⚽ Soccer: Baylor hosts Houston Thursday at 7 PM at Betty Lou Mays Field.
