We curate our content from hundreds of local sources, so you get an unbiased snapshot of the best things going on in Waco. We don’t cover politics, mugshots, or divisive topics

The mission is simple: help our community of readers become informed and engaged so that they love where they live.

How we got here

I sent the first newsletter on July 11th, 2024 to 34 people (all family and friends).

Fast forward to today, and the Waco Buzz newsletter is ready by 6,500+ Wacoans every Tuesday and Friday morning. Our content is 100% local to Waco, and 100% curated and written by a human.

Who writes it?

That would be me - Sam Harper. Maybe you’ve seen me on Instagram or around town. Meeting people has been the highlight of this entire experiment.

I’m a transplant to Waco. I moved here from Hawaii circa Chicago in 2011 and quickly fell in love with the city. I worked in ministry and tech sales for 13 years before jumping at the opportunity to the Waco buzz in 2024.

I live here with my wife, Carolyn, and our three kids.
