BUZZWORTHY NEWS

🍽 Date Nights & Dinner Club

A quick update on two fun Waco Buzz projects:

Date Night Passports are almost gone β€” fewer than 20 left. If you’ve been meaning to grab one as a gift or want an excuse to explore a few new Waco spots, now’s the time. They’ll likely be sold out within the week.
πŸ‘‰ Get yours here.

And on the community side, The Waco Buzz Dinner Club was announced Tuesday and the response has been incredible β€” nearly 50 people have already signed up. We’re capping it at 80, and it’s clear there’s real excitement around the idea of sharing a meal and meeting new people.
🍴 See details or grab a spot here.

Both of these projects reflect what The Waco Buzz is all about β€” helping people stay informed, get engaged, and build a stronger local community.

🐢 Dog of the Week: Honey

Honey is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever mix with a heart as warm as her name. She’s gentle, loyal, and happiest when she’s close to her people β€” whether that’s a walk around the block or a lazy Sunday on the couch.

At 49 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion with all the sweetness and calm that comes from a seasoned best friend. If you’ve been wanting a golden-hearted dog without the puppy chaos, Honey’s your girl.

🐣 Chip & Jo’s Shark Tank Investment

Did you catch Chip and Jo on Shark Tank this week? The duo invested in GoodEgg, a company making backyard chicken care a whole lot cleaner. If you’ve got hens of your own (and we know plenty of you do), this one hits close to home. The company’s all about simple tools that make backyard chicken care easier and cleaner. Chip and Jo now own 20% of GoodEgg, so don’t be surprised if you start seeing it on shelves at Target soon.

πŸ‘‰ Check out GoodEgg here.

Lastly, with all the excitement around local discounts and exclusive Waco experiences, I’ve been thinking β€” what if The Waco Buzz offered a monthly membership that included a discounted restaurant of the month and one curated local experience?

πŸš£β€β™€οΈ Rowing Gains Momentum on the Brazos

If you’ve driven past Brazos Park East lately and seen sleek boats gliding through the water, you’ve witnessed one of Waco’s fastest-growing sports finding its rhythm.

The Waco Rowing Center has been building something special on the river. What started as a small idea to bring competitive rowing to Central Texas is now drawing athletes from across the country and opening doors for local youth to train, compete, and even earn college scholarships.

This weekend marks the 4th annual Waco Rowing Regatta, a 5k head race that starts near downtown’s historic bridges and finishes beneath the bluffs of Cameron Park. The event brings together hundreds of rowers and thousands of spectators, with proceeds supporting the center’s youth rowing program.

Then, on November 9, the group will host its newest event β€” the Head-to-Head Race, a 3,500-meter showdown where crews race side-by-side for bragging rights on the Brazos.

Both events highlight what many already know: Waco’s 17 miles of protected water and scenic shoreline make it one of the most ideal rowing spots in the country. It’s the kind of setup that could one day produce Olympians right here in Central Texas.

The Waco Rowing Center offers separate programs for youth and adults on the Brazos River. Kids can learn a new sport, build confidence, and race at local and regional regattas with opportunities for college scholarships. Adults can train, race, and enjoy a full-body workout while being part of a growing community on the water. No experience is neededjust a willingness to try something new.

πŸ‘‰ For more information, visit wacorowingcenter.org or email [email protected].

Rowing might not be the first sport you associate with Waco β€” but that’s starting to change.
