BUZZWORTHY NEWS
⚾ Waco Has a Baseball Team Now
Meet the Waco Woolly Wranglers, Waco's brand new collegiate summer baseball team playing at Riverbend Ballpark in the inaugural season of the Cowboy Collegiate League. College players from across the country spend the summer in Waco living with local host families, playing four to five games a week, and sharpening their skills with wood bats.
The home opener is this Thursday, June 4 at 7 PM against the Weatherford Cutters.
🌿 Texas Just Got a New State Park

Silver Lake State Park
Texas Parks and Wildlife announced the acquisition of nearly 54,000 acres of Hill Country ranchland that will become Silver Lake State Park. It'll be the second-largest state park in Texas behind only Big Bend Ranch.
The land sits about 150 miles west of San Antonio between Rocksprings and Uvalde. Canyons, caves, pictographs, river frontage on the West Nueces, and a 30-acre spring-fed lake that gives the park its name.
The Moody Foundation donated their 87.5% stake in the property. The remaining $11.85 million came from the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund, the $1 billion Texas voters approved in 2023 to create and expand state parks. This is the first major land purchase that fund has made.
No opening date set. Guided tours could start as early as next summer. It’s a long drive from Waco, but by the looks of it, it’ll be worth it.

✈️ Flight Deal of the Week

Waco to Chicago, $290 roundtrip over the Fourth of July
Depart July 4, return July 11 on American. Chicago on the Fourth means Lake Michigan fireworks, the Miracle Mile, the Field Museum, and Yolk for breakfast, which is one of the best breakfast spots I've been to anywhere. Also: the weather is about 30 degrees cooler than whatever is happening here.👉 Check the deal here
If this flight deal caught your eye, Denae at Traveluxe can handle the flights, hotels, and insider perks at no cost to you. Just email [email protected] and she’ll take it from there. ✈️

What Should We Call This?! 📸

This is New Road and Hillcrest Drive, shot from above. Take a good look. Waco has The Circle. People talk about cruising The Valley (driving down Valley Mills Dr in the evening). For those who drive through this intersection (or ever have), you’ll agree that it needs a name.
Road designers in the 1960s were trying to solve a problem the UK had already figured out: when multiple roads converge, build a roundabout. Waco got... this. A series of triangle medians, merge lanes going multiple directions, and a layout that somehow works despite itself. The fact that this isn't a daily disaster is either a miracle or a tribute to Waco drivers.
