TOGETHER WITH HOTWORX WOODWAY

Most people don't quit working out because they stop caring. They quit because the format stops fitting their life.

That's the problem HOTWORX Woodway was built around. Sessions run 15 to 30 minutes inside an infrared sauna room, with a virtual instructor walking you through classes like Hot Blast, Hot Stretch, Pilates, and more. Members say it feels closer to an in-person class than you'd expect. Whether you're trying to boost energy, manage stress, recover faster, or just find something you can actually show up for consistently, the short format removes the main excuse.

The infrared heat means your body is doing more work than the clock suggests. Better circulation, more calorie burn, faster muscle recovery. It's 24/7, so the schedule is yours.

HOTWORX Woodway is running a summer bundle right now. Mention The Waco Buzz and you get in for $99 — the Sizzlin' Summer bundle, covering enrollment, prorated dues, a mat, and a towel, with July included. That's $318 in value.

They're at 13701 Woodway Dr, right next to The Butcher's Cellar. Come check it out today.*

BUZZWORTHY NEWS

🎬 Dean Cain Is Filming in Waco. He Needs You on Set.
Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 90s TV series Lois & Clark, is filming a baseball movie in Waco July 1-3 and they're looking for local boys ages 11-15 to appear in it.

The film is called Dinger Disciples, a faith-based true story about two Central Texas dads whose free youth baseball camp grew into a movement. Cain stars alongside former MLB All-Star Jonathan Lucroy, and both will be on site at the Waco camp in person during filming. No baseball experience required.

If you have a son, grandson, or neighborhood kid who would get a kick out of spending Fourth of July weekend on a movie set with Superman, reach out directly to the director.

🗺️ Introducing: Waco Buzz Field Trips
After watching my kids get behind-the-scenes access to some cool places during the school year, I kept thinking: why don't adults get to do that?

I ran a poll in the Sunday edition asking if this would be interesting. 98% of you said yes. So here we go. Waco Buzz Field Trips, locals getting access to some of the places that make Waco what it is. Think behind-the-scenes tours, new people, and a little more appreciation for what's right in our backyard.

You asked for Amazon, SpaceX, and stadiums. In the meantime, this guy tours stadiums across the country and just stopped at Foster Pavilion. Watch it here. Stay tuned.

✈️ Flight Deal of the Week

Waco to Milwaukee, roundtrip: $290. Dates are July 11-18.

Business News

🚀 The Biggest IPO in History Is Friday. McGregor Built the Engines.
SpaceX plans to go public this Friday, June 12, on the Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX. The company is targeting $75 billion raised at a $1.75 trillion valuation, which would make it the largest IPO in stock market history, nearly three times Saudi Aramco's $29 billion record from 2019.

SpaceX has operated its rocket engine testing facility in McGregor for more than 20 years becoming one of the area's largest employers with more than 500 employees. If you've lived here long enough, you've felt it. The low rumble. The windows rattling. The "was that thunder?" text from a neighbor. That's been SpaceX testing the engines that are about to go public.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that many current and former employees are sitting on stock options worth millions. That's hundreds of people in our backyard who could wake up Saturday as paper millionaires.

What happens to a town when that occurs overnight? We're all about to find out in the coming weeks. It makes me wonder: if you woke up Saturday with a couple million that wasn't there on Friday, what would you do? Buy a house, start a business, something nobody would guess, or just grab coffee with a friend like any other day? Reply to this email with your best answer. I’ll share some favorites in an upcoming edition.

🥐 Waco's First Puerto Rican Bakery Is Coming to Hewitt
Red's Bake Shop is opening this July at 135 Hewitt Dr. Owner Lorraine Carrau is bringing fresh breads, pastries, cakes, and traditional Puerto Rican specialties made from scratch. She's building it as a neighborhood gathering spot. No confirmed opening date beyond July, but worth following for the announcement.

📱 McLennan County Has a Phone Scam Problem Right Now
Callers are spoofing the McLennan County Sheriff's Office number, sometimes dropping real employee names, and telling residents they owe money or they're about to be arrested. One person lost $22,000. Another lost $32,000.

Why it works: The caller ID looks real. The name sounds familiar. The threat feels urgent. By the time most people realize what happened, the money is gone and untraceable.

What to do: Hang up. That's it. Law enforcement will never call and demand immediate payment. Not the Sheriff's Office. Not the IRS. Not anyone with a badge. If you get one of these calls, hang up and contact MCSO directly to report it.

Chief Deputy Jake Burson confirmed the scam is active and spreading fast across the county.

McGruff the Crime Dog would probably recommend forwarding this newsletter to your friends and family so they can be aware and not fall for something like this.
