Good morning, Waco. This is The Waco Buzz's Sunday Sip,a slower read to go with your second cup of coffee. April is nearly done, May is knocking, and there's plenty worth looking forward to this week.

See you out there!

TOGETHER WITH CHEVY OF WEST

Summer is right around the corner, which means lake trips, boat trailers, and that one project in the backyard you've been putting off since February.

If your current truck isn't up for it, or you've just been waiting for a reason to upgrade, the folks at Chevrolet of West in West, TX are worth a visit. Great inventory, no-pressure team, and close enough that you could make it a kolache run while you're at it.

👉 Browse what they've got at chevyofwest.com or call 254-826-8436.

🍽️ Now Open

🍽️ Now open: Fox and Co. Bakery opened this week at 601 Franklin Ave., right next to Sison Tacos where Paper Crown used to be.

  • I went with two of my kids and it became a genuine argument over who got more. That's a good sign.

  • Victor, the baker behind it, has been responsible for some of Waco's most loved pastries over the years — and even has a recipe in a local cookbook that's in homes all around the world.

  • Hours: Wed–Sat, 7am–3pm.

What to order:

  • Dulce de Olla Loaf — cafe de olla-spiced coffee cake with cinnamon crumble. $6.

  • Lemon, Liz Loaf — lemon poppyseed cake with lemon glaze and candied lemon. $6.

My take: $6 pastries that cause a sibling conflict are worth every penny. Put this one on your Saturday morning rotation.

🎨 Arts Spotlight: Three Waco Artists Worth Knowing

The Waco Welcome Center has a new exhibit opening soon that will be running through September.

"From Hermès to Home" is built around a mentorship. Kermit Oliver, internationally renowned painter and the only American artist to ever design for the Paris fashion house Hermès, mentored Cade Kegerreis and Vincent Thomas. All three are based right here in Waco. The exhibit brings their work together in one room: Oliver's iconic Hermès scarf designs, self-portraits, and paintings by all three artists, tracing how a vision gets passed from one generation to the next.

Oliver's work is rooted in faith, mythology, and folklore — deeply symbolic and unlike anything else being made in Texas. Kegerreis (@cadekeg) and Thomas (@v7thomas) are rising artists whose public work is already visibly around Waco shaping our city's cultural story. Both are great to follow online to see the latest of what they are creating.

This exhibit is presented by Art Center of Waco with Creative Waco at Waco Welcome Center until September 2026
323 S. 6th St. Free starting this coming week.

💬 Community Bulletin Board — Coming Soon

I've heard from a lot of you that you want a place in the Buzz to share things with the community — volunteer opportunities, garage sales, a local loss worth noting. It won't be exhaustive like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, but there'll be a curated spot for it soon.

In the meantime: reply to this email with the best purchase you've made for under $100. I'll share the best responses in an upcoming edition.

THANKS!

Thanks for reading The Waco Buzz today. If you found something helpful, share it with your friend who loves art.
