TOGETHER WITH CHEVY OF WEST

L to R: Mark Varia, Ty Korenek, Adrian Aleman, Leo Pacheco

Most people know Chevy of West for the trucks and SUVs on the lot. But the reason people keep coming back is the team inside.

Owner Leo Pacheco and his team, including Sales Manager Mark Varia and sales pros Ty Korenek and Adrian Aleman, have built a dealership that runs on relationships. They've earned the Chevrolet Mark of Excellence award, which says a lot about the way they treat their customers and run their operation. Whether you're buying your first truck or trading in your third, this is a team that remembers your name and answers the phone when you call.

Baylor University Media & Public Relations

๐ŸŽธ Willie Nelson at Magnolia Field -- May 14
He's back. Willie Nelson and Family play Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark this Thursday, May 14 at 7:30pm. Hawaii native Lily Meola opens, and she's worth showing up early for. This one is sold out, but if you know someone with an extra ticket, now is the time to ask. Resale tickets going for $115.

๐Ÿ’„Kiss Me, Kate at Waco Civic Theatre -- May 14-16
Cole Porter, Shakespeare, and a feuding divorced couple forced to share a stage. Kiss Me, Kate opens this week at Waco Civic Theatre. The score alone ("Too Darn Hot," "So in Love") is worth the price of a ticket. Thursday through Saturday this week. Grab seats here.

๐ŸŽถLevitt AMP Concert Series at Bridge Street Plaza -- May 14
Creative Waco's free outdoor concert series is happening at Bridge Street Plaza on Thursday night. If Willie is sold out and you need somewhere to be, this is a great move for the whole family. Free, outside, downtown.

A heads-up: this coming weekend is Baylor Graduation. More families in town, more cars on the road. Give yourself a little extra time getting anywhere near campus and show up early to grab a dinner table around town.

๐Ÿ•๏ธ Summer Camp Season Is Here

School's almost out and camp registration is moving fast. We put together a full roundup of Waco-area summer camps to help you sort through the options. From arts and theater to sports, STEM, and outdoor adventure, there's something for every kid.

๐Ÿก Open House
14010 Horseshoe Cir

Listed By Trevor Caswell Storied Real Estate Group | Keller Williams Advantage

Welcome to Open House, the newsletter section that never met a pool it didn't want to cannonball into. We give you the details. You guess the price.

This one is tucked behind the mouth of the Bosque River in Woodway, on 5.49 acres that feel more like a private retreat than a residential lot. Highlights include:

  • 4 beds, 6 baths, 7,272 square feet across three floors

  • An elevator

  • Hidden room behind the office bookshelf (yes, really)

  • Third-floor movie room plus a screened-in porch

  • Resort backyard with a pool, sports court, and your own slice of nature

๐Ÿ‘‰ Take your best guess at the list price, then peek at the answer here.

Sponsored by Parity Tax

Your appraisal notice showed up last week, and if it made you do a double take, youโ€™re not alone. I found Parity Tax, and instead of taking a big cut like the national firms, they charge a simple flat fee to build your protest, plus you can check your potential savings for free before deciding to move forward. Find out how much you can save here.ย Protest deadline is Friday, May 15.

๐Ÿ’งWhereโ€™s the Public Pool?

Hawaiian Falls, Waco Surf, and the splash pads around town are opening for the season right now. Which is a good time to ask: where does Waco actually swim?

We published a deep read this week on the history of public pools in Waco. It goes back to the 1890s, when businessmen were drilling artesian wells and building natatoriums downtown. Lions Pool at Lions Park opened in 1952 as one of the largest outdoor tiled pools in the country. Then, quietly, over a few decades, all of it closed. The city exited the pool business without much public debate.

Doris Miller Community Pool reopened last year after a renovation. That's one indoor public pool for 150,000+ people.

There's been a recent feasibility study. There's an open field where Lions Pool used to sit. And there's a real question on the table. Read the full piece here.

๐Ÿ“Œ The Bulletin Board

Starting something new today. The Bulletin Board is a classifieds section for neighbors, not businesses. Think of it as the bulletin board at the back of the coffee shop.

Two 2007 Sea-Doo GTI 130 SE Jet Skis for Sale. Both are yellow, well-maintained, and each comes paired with its own Triton trailer. Low hours for the age. New spark plugs and fresh oil last spring, then stored for the season. Clear titles on all four vehicles, one spare trailer tire included. Hook up and go. $4,750 per jet ski and trailer, or $9,500 for both. Firm on price. Text [720-839-4081] to connect with the seller.

Want to Volunteer at Creekside Community Village?
Mission Waco is training new volunteers for Creekside, their affordable housing neighborhood taking shape at 3810 S University Parks Dr. If you've been curious about getting involved, this is the on-ramp.

Three training sessions available this month. Wednesday May 13th at noon, Thursday May 14th at 5:30 PM, or Wednesday May 20th at 8:00 AM. All on-site. Bring an ID. A background check is required before you start serving.

Click here to sign up or contact Jacob Palmer at [email protected] with questions.

Want a spot on The Bulletin Board? This section runs every Sunday and it's for Waco neighbors only.

What belongs here: garage and estate sales, volunteer needs from local nonprofits, and life announcements to honor someone in town, a funeral notice, an engagement.

No charge to list right now, but it is limited in space each week. Reply to this email by Thursday night with details.

THANKS!

Thanks for reading The Waco Buzz today. Share it with the mom in your life who deserves a spa day but will probably spend it driving kids somewhere.
