🎨 First Friday + Fishing Weekend
This weekend feels like the unofficial start of spring in Waco. Downtown Waco is busy tonight because it’s First Friday. That means shops staying open late, specials across downtown, and a Dr. Seuss scavenger hunt where you can search for hidden characters and win prizes along the way. Magnolia kicks off their Spring at the Silos and the new “Bridges & Brazos” board-game mural on 7th Street gets its first public play tonight as part of the party.
Then Saturday and Sunday, Major League Fishing takes over Lake Waco. There’s also a Hunting & Fishing Outdoor Expo at the AC Hotel downtown, while Twin Bridges Park hosts a free fishing experience for families with rods, food, and kids’ activities. Academy Sports is running gift card giveaways and a kids’ casting competition too. Plenty to do if you’ve got kids with energy this weekend.
🎶 Concert season is lining up
Two music announcements this week. Brazos Nights released its 2026 schedule, bringing back the free riverfront concerts and fireworks nights at Indian Spring Park. Baylor also announced Baylor Backyard Live, a new pre-game concert series before every home football game this fall with live bands in the Baylor Backyard tailgate area.
🥤 Big gift for the Dr Pepper Museum
The Dr Pepper Museum just received a $1,023,000 commitment from the Hillman Family Foundation, one of the largest gifts in the museum’s history. The first project funded will be a 23-foot Dr Pepper bottle installation in the courtyard, debuting during the museum’s 35th birthday celebration in May.
Waco being the birthplace of Dr Pepper makes this extra fun, especially with the nod to the drink’s original 23 flavors built into the first $123,000 gift. 👉Read more.
⏰ Spring Forward
Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday. Your phone will adjust automatically overnight… your oven clock and microwave, not so much. Set them forward before bed Saturday night and enjoy the longer spring evenings.
🐾 If your pet needs expert care, Ranch House Pet-Med offers comprehensive care from wellness to surgery, all right here in Waco. You can find them online, by phone at 254-544-1458, or at 149 Dosher Lane, Waco, 76712.

Meet Comet, a 4-year-old Goldendoodle weighing in at a very huggable 92 pounds. He’s fully grown, past the puppy chaos, and right in that sweet spot where you get a calm, loyal companion who still enjoys getting out for walks and playtime.
If you’re looking for a big, friendly dog who can be both a backyard buddy and a couch companion, Comet might be your guy.
