🚀 Tesla Picked Waco for Its Next Big Reveal

Tesla just confirmed it: the next-gen Roadster will be unveiled in Waco on October 1 at 7:30 PM.

Why Waco? The Waco connection is SpaceX, which has its rocket engine testing facility just up the road in McGregor. The Roadster is expected to feature SpaceX-inspired thruster technology, with Elon Musk claiming the most extreme version could go from 0 to 60 MPH in about 1.5 seconds.

Musk has been teasing this car since 2017 and says the reveal will be “crazier than if you took all the James Bond cars and combined them.” Tesla has even floated the idea of using the thrusters to lift the car off the ground (cough cough a flying car).

There’s one catch: you and I probably won’t be there. The October 1 event is invite-only for original Roadster reservation holders, and invitations can’t be transferred.

The car is expected to start around $200,000, with the Founders Series around $250,000. So don’t expect to see one sitting on a used car lot on Franklin Ave anytime soon.

🥡 The Takeaway: A company worth hundreds of billions of dollars is unveiling one of the most talked-about cars in the world in Waco, Texas. National tech and auto media will be talking about Waco on October 1, and this time it has nothing to do with Baylor, Magnolia, or something from decades ago that wasn’t really even in Waco. Whatever happens on that stage, that's a pretty cool thing for our city to be part of.

🏋️ D1 Is Coming Back to 5100 Franklin Ave
D1 Training is coming back to Waco at 5100 Franklin Ave, the same location where the gym operated before it closed.

D1 is built around athletic training rather than a traditional open gym, with coach-led workouts focused on strength, conditioning, speed, and performance.

The new ownership has relaunched the Waco website, though an official grand opening date has not been announced. The space was most recently home to SoCo Soccer Academy and has been sitting empty for the last few months. 👉D1 Training Waco

🐻 Baylor Has Football + Volleyball at Home This Week

Baylor football's "Fan First Era" kicked off this past Saturday with a 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M in front of 38,642 fans at McLane Stadium. Next up: Louisiana Tech, Saturday at 3 PM at McLane for Family Weekend. Tickets starting at $17.

Volleyball hosts the Baylor Classic this week at the Ferrell Center, with matches Wednesday and Friday at 7 PM.
