TOGETHER WITH CEDAR HOLLOW

Lindsay and Colton Nixon are building Cedar Hollow with their family and future neighbors in mind.

🌳 Waco, Meet Cedar Hollow

What would it look like to have a little more space, a little more quiet, and still be close enough to town for a quick H-E-B run?

That’s the idea behind Cedar Hollow, a new neighborhood Lindsay and Colton Nixon are building just across Lake Waco, near one of our favorite spots, Helberg Barbecue. They want to create a place where people can slow down, get to know their neighbors, and build the kind of community that brings generations together.

Cedar Hollow has 33 spacious lots ranging from 1 to 3 acres, just outside Waco city limits. That means no city property taxes. Look at you already saving money!

The neighborhood is taking shape now, with completion planned for January. The best way to understand what the Nixons are building is to see the property.

The first six preferred-pricing lots are already spoken for, leaving six of the original 12 still available. If you’ve been thinking about more room to spread out without moving too far from Waco, now’s a good time to take a look.

See the lots still available and call/text Colton at 254-230-6061 if you want to find out more.*

BUZZWORTHY NEWS

🛩️ Jeff Langford Is Waco's Paper Airplane Champ
Jeff won Sunday's Paper Airplane Championship at McLane Stadium with a throw that flew more than 30 yards and landed within three feet of the trophy. His prize is a year's supply of Joyride Candy, a trophy taller than his son, and the title of Waco’s best paper airplane builder beating 120 other contestants.

Thank you to L3Harris, a global industry leader with local heart, for helping make the event happen. Thanks also to The Baylor Club for dinner, The Mayborn Museum for plane-building supplies, and Joyride Candy for the prize!

🧠 Social Studies: Why Your Brain Needs Sleep
When was the last time you got out on a weeknight, learned something fascinating, and met a few people you wouldn't have otherwise crossed paths with?

That's the idea behind Social Studies: curious people, interesting conversations, and a reason to put your phone down and get out into the world for a while.

Next month, Baylor sleep researcher Dr. Michael Scullin will explain how sleep affects memory, mood, and focus, which sleep myths hold up, and what you can do tonight to rest better. He directs Baylor’s Sleep Neuroscience and Cognition Laboratory, so expect practical takeaways alongside fascinating science

🗳️ Build Your Ballot Before You Vote
Early voting runs Oct. 19 to 30, Election Day is Nov. 3, and this week's hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. The Waco Bridge built a free tool that takes your address and shows every race you'll vote on, from the top of the ballot down to school board and propositions. This makes it a lot easier than Googling candidates in the parking lot.
