The Waco Buzz Presents

Best Pizza in Waco, TX

Seven spots I'd actually send you to, from a Baylor slice-shop staple to a wood-fired date-night pizza on Bosque.

Updated September 2026 · 7 spots covered · Addresses & hours verified

Waco has more good pizza than a town this size has any right to. Student slice joints, a riverside patio, a wood-fired Italian spot, and a food hall counter all count. I checked addresses, hours, and menus on every spot below before republishing this, so what you see here is current, not a leftover from last year.

Hours change, especially around holidays. Call ahead or check a place's site before you drive out if you're going for a specific occasion.

Student Favorite

Shorty's Pizza Shack

1712 S 12th St (near Baylor) & 8640 La Village Ave, Woodway · Daily 11am–10/11pm

The Baylor location is the one everyone knows, big slices, cold drinks, packed on game days. The Woodway spot at Midway Plaza gives families more room to spread out without losing that same laid-back, order-at-the-counter feel.

Family Favorite

Poppa Rollo's Pizza

703 N Valley Mills Dr & 1201 Hewitt Dr #214 (new) · Daily 11am–10/11:30pm

Serving Waco since 1969 and still a family go-to for toppings-heavy pizza and an in-house arcade. The Hewitt location is the newest addition, same menu, closer to the south side of town.

Best Patio

Slow Rise

1620 N MLK Jr Blvd (Brazos River) & 7608 Woodway Dr · Daily 11am–10pm

The Brazos location has the patio everyone posts about, right on the river, and it fills up fast on nice evenings. Woodway serves the same New York-style slices and craft beer with more indoor seating if you'd rather skip the wait.

Wood-Fired

Moroso Italian Ristorante

4700 Bosque Blvd · Tue–Sat, closed Sun–Mon

Neapolitan wood-fired pizza made with imported Italian flour and San Marzano tomatoes. Lunch runs Tuesday through Friday, dinner Tuesday through Saturday. This is the one to book for a date, not a quick bite.

Pasta & Pizza

Baris

904 N Valley Mills Dr · Closed Mondays

Family-run since 1996, with a dedicated pizza menu alongside their pasta. Easygoing, sit-down, and a solid option if half your group wants pizza and the other half wants pasta.

Food Hall Slice

Village Pizzaria @ Union Food Hall

720 Franklin Ave, Union Food Hall

By-the-slice pizza and gelato inside downtown's food hall. Good option when your group can't agree on one restaurant, everyone else at the table has other counters to choose from.
