BUZZWORTHY NEWS

☀️ Fun weekend around Waco
This weekend is packed with reasons to get outside and connect with the community. Art on Elm is back, pairing the Downtown Farmers Market with more than 100 local artists and vendors for a neighborhood-style festival. McGregor is celebrating Founders Day with a parade, food trucks, and activities for kids that run all day. Saturday night, McLane Stadium hosts Baylor vs. Arizona State under the lights — with resale tickets still hovering in the $30s if you want in on Big 12 football. And if your idea of competition involves a salted rim, the Margarita Festival at the Backyard will have you sipping and voting for the best marg in Waco.
👉 Find the full rundown of weekend events at the bottom of today’s newsletter.
🐶 Dog of the Week: Franky
Franky is a 1-year, 7-month-old French Bulldog with a sturdy little frame (21 pounds) and a face built to melt hearts. He’s playful, compact, and has all the charm you’d expect from a Frenchie.
If you’ve been waiting for a pint-sized pal who can turn any walk into a parade, Franky’s your guy. Meet him here.
💡 Lifelong Learners of Waco
This one came from a Waco Buzz reader (thank you!). Baylor’s Lifelong Learning program is proof that curiosity doesn’t retire. Hosted through the Mayborn Museum, it offers courses on everything from Texas history and WWII heroes to railroads, poetry, travel, and even the storied past of Cameron Park. Most classes meet once a week, run just a few sessions, and cost about $20 — all designed for adults 55+ who want to keep learning, connecting, and exploring.

⚾ Downtown Waco Baseball
If you’ve flipped through Waco’s master plan for downtown, you may have noticed something tucked in among the parks, trails, and riverfront: a baseball field. Now, most of us aren’t following the farm leagues unless a local high school grad gets drafted to the majors. But there’s one team that has more attention than nearly any other — the Savannah Bananas.
Banana ball isn’t really about baseball, it’s about nonstop entertainment with a game wrapped around it. Picture circus stunts, choreographed dances, and fans on their feet from first pitch to final out. Dream with me: what if, ten years from now, Banana ball takes off nationwide and Waco lands a team downtown?
Would you want to see Waco pursue Banana Ball as a downtown entertainment experience?
