🌡️ It's Hot, Hot, Hot
We've officially hit the point in the year where Waco starts to lose it. A couple weeks of 100° is one thing. Two months of it with barely any rain? That'll do us in. We're looking at 105° today and 106° tomorrow. The breeze stopped feeling like relief a while back. Now it's just a hair dryer that won't turn off.
If your weekend plan is starting to look like "find the best AC, order queso, repeat," I get it.
But there are actually a ton of things to do around Waco when it's this hot that don't involve sitting in a restaurant. I spent way too much time going through them and put together 25+ verified spots to cool off, make something, catch a show, get competitive, or just get out of the house.
It's built mostly for dates and friend hangouts, and I intentionally left the usual restaurant lists and kid-zone fun out of it.
Here's the guide → What To Do In Waco When It's 100°F Outside
🚧 Twin Bridges Will Become a Solo Bridge for a Year
On Sunday at 7 p.m., every car crossing Lake Waco on Highway 6 will start doing the cupid shuffle, sliding to the left, more or less. It's the start of a $114 million rebuild of the Twin Bridges, which have carried traffic since the 1960s.
By the following Saturday, that one bridge carries two lanes, one for each direction and stays that way through fall 2027 while crews demolish and rebuild the southbound side. A couple of ramps close for about a year too: the southbound exit to Midway Park and the northbound on-ramp past Fish Pond Road.
🥡 The Takeaway: Cha cha real smooth and give yourself some extra time if this is part of your regular drive. 👉 Full details here
